How to ride the Enoden (Kamakura – Enoshima): tap the green post in, the yellow post out

江ノ電の乗り方

Most Enoden stations have no gates — tap your IC card on the green reader as you enter and the yellow one as you leave. Contactless bank cards work too.

The Enoshima Electric Railway (Enoden) runs between Fujisawa and Kamakura in about 37 minutes, past the beaches, Enoshima and the Great Buddha at Hase. Fares depend on distance — Fujisawa to Kamakura is ¥310 for adults.

乗り方の流れ

Step by step

  1. 01Ticket, IC card or bank card

Buy a ticket from the machine using the fare chart above it, or use an IC card (PASMO, Suica and all the nationwide cards). Contactless Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Amex, Diners, Discover and UnionPay cards also work at every station — one rider per card, adult fare only.

  2. 02Gated stations

Fujisawa, Enoshima, Hase and Kamakura have ticket gates. Use them as usual.

  3. 03Other stations: tap the green reader

Every other station has upright readers instead of gates. Touch the green one when you enter and the yellow one when you leave — you must touch both times.

  4. 04Low balance?

If your IC balance is below the minimum fare the reader shows an error. Top up at the ticket machine; at an unstaffed station, use the intercom by the machine.

  5. 05Leave with the same card

Bank-card riders must exit with the same card or phone they entered with. At Kamakura, the connecting gate to JR works with IC cards and tickets only, not bank cards or QR tickets.

Passes

Noriori-kun (のりおりくん): unlimited Enoden rides for a day, ¥800 (child ¥400), with discounts at partner spots. Buy it from station machines, at partner hotels, or as a digital QR ticket in the EMot app — hold the QR 2–3 cm above the reader.

Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass (Odakyu): Odakyu trains from Shinjuku (¥1,640) or Fujisawa (¥810) plus unlimited Enoden for a day; the Romancecar needs an extra ticket.

Good to know

  • On very busy holidays Enoden may stop selling Noriori-kun at stations (it did on 19–22 September 2026) — buy the digital version in advance.
  • Coin lockers are at Fujisawa, Enoshima, Hase and Kamakura. Big luggage may be refused when trains are crowded.
  • Don't step onto the tracks for photos, and no flash or tripods on platforms.
