Until 31 December, the event space on the third floor of Randen's Arashiyama Station shows a Nishijin-weave copy of the golden tea room from Osaka Castle. Admission is free, and from there you can step out onto the station's rooftop terrace.

Keifuku Electric Railroad, which runs Kyoto's Randen tram line, is showing a "golden tea room" in the third-floor event space of its Arashiyama Station building until 31 December 2026. Modelled on the golden tea room at Osaka Castle, it was made in Nishijin weaving with gold leaf by the Nishijin Textile International Art Museum and Tomiya Orimono.

It's open 11:00–16:00 (last entry 15:30) and free. Show a Randen one-day pass to get a postcard on a Tale of Genji theme. From the event space you can also go out onto the station's rooftop terrace — at the peak of the autumn colours, the hills around Arashiyama turn red and yellow.

Randen has also published a leaflet on places linked to the Toyotomi brothers along the line, mostly around Kitano and Nishijin (Kitano Tenmangu and more). It is handed out at main Randen stations and the Kyoto Tourist Information Center (Kyo Navi) until 31 December (planned).

For visitors

  • Randen's Arashiyama Station is not the same as JR Saga-Arashiyama or Hankyu Arashiyama — the event is in the Randen station building.
  • If you ride Randen several times that day (for example to Kitano Tenmangu as well), the one-day pass also gets you the postcard here — check the fare on Randen's site.
  • The leaflet is in Japanese; the map is still useful for finding the Kitano sites.
