Kyoto Railway Museum raises admission to ¥1,900 from 1 March 2027
京都鉄道博物館 入館料金等改定(2027年3月1日から)
Adult same-day tickets go from ¥1,500 to ¥1,900 and the steam-train ride from ¥300 to ¥500; advance tickets will be ¥100 cheaper.

The Kyoto Railway Museum, one of Japan's largest rail museums with a working steam-locomotive roundhouse, announced on 2 November 2026 that its prices will change from Monday 1 March 2027. Prices stay the same until 28 February 2027.
Same-day admission rises to ¥1,900 for adults (from ¥1,500), ¥1,400 for university and high-school students (from ¥1,300), ¥600 for junior-high and elementary pupils (from ¥500) and ¥300 for children aged 3 and over (from ¥200).
A separate advance-ticket price is being introduced for adults at ¥1,800; advance prices for students and children stay at the current levels. Group rates (20 or more) also rise, to ¥1,620 for adults.
The short ride behind a real steam locomotive, the SL Steam-go, goes from ¥300 to ¥500 for anyone high-school age or older; children's fares are unchanged. The driving-simulator ticket price is not changing.
For visitors
- Visiting before March 2027? Nothing changes for you — adults still pay ¥1,500.
- From March, buy an advance ticket to pay ¥1,800 instead of ¥1,900 at the door.
- The museum is closed on Wednesdays (open on public holidays and during school holidays). The nearest station is Umekoji-Kyotetsuhakubutsukan, one stop from Kyoto on the JR Sagano Line.
